The one-year milestone
As CEO of Fleishman-Hillard Inc., I’m honored to be the guest blogger to mark the one-year anniversary of the debut of Out Front Blog. As the first post promised one year ago today: “This blog is dedicated to the idea that gay and lesbian communications and marketing is important, relevant and appropriate.”
I couldn’t agree more. The communications marketplace is an increasingly diverse, and fragmented, environment and the FH Out Front team’s focus on the LGBT community online is significant and groundbreaking for our industry.
In my role as CEO, I talk a lot about our firm’s focus on “switching on.” That’s my term for our focus on engaging target audiences online in ways that are relevant and appropriate to them. And it’s my way of focusing our firm on the primary relevance of digital communications to all of the ways in which we help our clients communicate.
I have tracked the progress of this blog with great interest over the past year and have been impressed by the breadth and scope of interests and experiences represented. The FH Out Front practice group members who blog for this site have provided invaluable personal insight and professional expertise on a variety of issues related to gay and lesbian marketing and the challenges and opportunities of communicating by, for, with and to this audience. Along with the increasing importance of reaching this market comes the need for sound and credible insight, which the Out Front Blog provides, as well as insightful and educational dialogue among communications professionals, which is the ideal of Out Front Blog.
As we look back at the first year of this blog, I’m happy to recognize the team for their contributions and insights and I look forward to the future with great pride and promise – this team is switched on and making an impact in a new environment for our firm and our industry. I’m confident that over the next year, even more people will join this online community.
Congratulations team!
